Your Role in Building Brighter Futures

Wellsway School is a well-established secondary school in Keynsham with a strong academic tradition and inclusive ethos. It provides students with a high-quality education and a wide range of opportunities to develop their interests, leadership skills, and character. 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Design Technology Technician to join our thriving and well-resourced Art, Design and Technology team. This is a rewarding role supporting a diverse and dynamic curriculum area, contributing to the learning experience of students across Key Stages 3–5.

Design Technology is a popular and high-performing subject at both GCSE and A-Level, offering a broad range of specialisms including Product Design, Textiles, Food, Art, Engineering, Construction, Creative Technology, and Child Development.

Our facilities include:

- At least two specialist rooms per subject area

- A dedicated computer suite

- A large team of experienced teachers and three existing technicians

What You’ll Bring to Futura

We are looking for a skilled and motivated technician who can support the delivery of outstanding teaching within the Design Technology department.

We are looking for a committed technician who can work both independently and collaboratively. You’ll have:

Education to at least Post-16 level (essential)

Good ICT skills and a willingness to undertake further training (essential)

Understanding of health & safety, COSHH, and safeguarding procedures (essential

Previous experience working with young people in a school or similar environment (essential)

Demonstrated ability to contribute to a team and work to high standards (essential)

A commitment to supporting the school’s ethos, vision, and extra-curricular life (desirable)

Excellent organisational and communication skills

Creativity, adaptability, and problem-solving ability

Patience, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of humour

Ability to motivate and inspire students and support their progress

Confidence to work flexibly and proactively in a hands-on environment

Key Information

Contract: 23 hours per week, term time only

Start Date: 1st September 2025

Salary: Grade 4 SCP 7-8 (£25,584 - £25,992 pro rata)

Working Hours: The school is willing to be flexible with working hours
