Futura Learning Partnership is a family of schools who work together to provide exceptional learning opportunities for nearly 12,000 children and young people aged two to 19. We have about 1500 staff, whose success and wellbeing is a high priority for us.
Our trust began in 2014 and now comprises 27 schools in the West of England – 20 primaries, six secondaries and a special school. Each of our schools is rooted in its community, while benefiting from being part of a wider, outward-looking trust.
Futura is an inclusive trust and welcomes all children. We have a dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities lead who works across all schools to ensure children’s needs are met.
We have a strong track record in school improvement and work closely with the five local authorities in the areas we serve: Somerset, North Somerset, Bath & North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bristol. We continue to develop partnerships and links that can help influence and improve teaching and learning as well as the welfare of our students and staff.
Our central team looks after business needs including finance, premises, HR and IT, giving school leaders more time to concentrate on the education and wellbeing of the people in their community.
Andrea Arlidge
Chief Executive
Futura Learning Partnership came into being in September 2021. It grew out of Wellsway Multi Academy Trust, which had formed seven years earlier to bring together a group of schools in Keynsham. As the Trust grew in numbers and geographical spread, it became clear that we needed a new identity that reflected our role and influence and where every school was shown to be of equal importance.
Our name was chosen to be forward-looking, while also subtly referring to our past. Futura comes from the Wellsway School motto ‘Futura Aedificamus’, meaning ‘We build for the future’. ‘Learning partnership’ closely reflects the commitment and value we place on collaboration, partnership working and being one organisation.
Each of our schools has an individual improvement strategy, based on what we call the ‘Futura Way’, ensuring consistency across our Trust. This approach means that whichever school your child attends, he or she is guaranteed the best teaching, the best opportunities and importantly the best experiences, both in and outside the classroom.
OUR VALUES
The Futura Learning Partnership core values describe the guiding principles that sit at the heart of our organisation; they provide the platform that brings individuals and schools together to achieve our shared mission. They apply equally to pupils and adults.
RESPECT: Behaving with integrity and being worthy of trust; respecting self, others and the environment
OPPORTUNITY: Providing experiences for growth and development; opening doors to future success
COLLABORATION: Working together towards shared goals and shared success; being ‘stronger together’
ASPIRATION: Encouraging ambition; providing the inspiration, challenge and support to achieve success in all its forms

Studio schools are small schools that offer a more personalised, vocational and academic curriculum and a culture and timetable that are more akin to a workplace than a conventional school. The Futura Learning Partnership’s two studio schools will each have 300 places.
They will both offer high-levels of employer engagement including enterprise projects and paid work placements, and a readiness for work programme to students aged 14-19. They will operate a longer school day with timetabled curriculum enrichment, a longer school year with a dedicated summer school and allow families to book holidays during term time.
Both of our studio schools will offer vocational and academic qualifications, including BTEC, GCSE and A-level, alongside a range of more vocational subjects, such as Journalism at The Bath Studio School and Engineering at The IKB Studio School. The studio schools will provide a different environment to that of a traditional school. Students will work with individual learning coaches, for example, and will wear business dress rather than school uniform.
Futura Learning Partnership will become a strong local partnership of schools that is cross-phase with a fully inclusive range of provision
You will be joining a team of friendly and supportive staff who strive for outstanding in everything they do.’
Futura Learning Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. For this post prior to appointment, Futura Learning Partnership will apply for an enhanced disclosure certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
